Gamma-spectroscopy

one of the divisions of nuclear spectroscopy, which is occupied by a study of the spectra of gamma-radiation and different properties of the excited states of the atomic nuclei, whose the disintegration is accompanied by emission

- quanta. Task G.- s. as alpha-spectroscopy and beta-spectroscopy, is the study of the structure of the atomic nuclei (see nucleus atomic). G.- s. investigates also

- the emission, which appears as a result of radioactive decay and nuclear reactions. Spectra

- emission, i.e. the distribution of emitted gamma-radiation on the energies, are measured by gamma-ray spectrometers.
