radium therapy, the totality of the methods of the
radiation therapy (mainly patients with the malignant tumors), which
use gamma-radiation of radioactive isotopes and other sources.
The biological effect of emission is caused by value of the
absorbed radiant energy (dose). The distribution of dose into
the tele- patient depends on gamma-ray energy, beam geometry, and also
on the method of irradiation. The application of gamma-radiation
of high energy makes it possible to bring to the deeply located tumors
considerably larger doses, than with the use of the X-radiation (see
roentgenotherapy) with the maximum energy 250 keV, with simultaneous
shchazhenii of the superficially located organs and cloths.
