ground-based: (excluding primates and man) and for a second
time- aqueous vertebrates. The fatty secret, isolated by g. zh,
wets the front surface of eye, protecting it from drying, in aqueous
animals - from the action of water. G. zh is for the first time
described by Swiss anatomist i. garder (J Harder) in deer (1694).
