(Gardiner) Alan Henderson (29.3.1879, Eltem,
-19.12.1963, Oxford), English Egyptologist. It learned in
Sorbonne and Oxford. Head the 90's to 1911 it worked in Berlin
above izdaniyem"Slovarya of Egyptian language". One of founders
Eng, periodical on Egyptology "The Journal of Egyptian Archaeology";
(1914). In 1948 it is selected into the British academy.
G. published and commented on a large quantity of lit. and was
true the monuments, which characterize the economy, way of life and
social structure and the culture of others- Egyptian society.
Especially great significance has a publication g. (with the
precise transfer and the commentary) of Leyden papyrus № 344, which
made possible to study the early known to us large uprising of paupers
and slaves. Author of the most detailed and thoroughly
developed grammar of classical Egyptian. language (Vol. n. of
sredneyegipetskogo). In the works on the general linguistics g.
it advanced the theory of proposal, according to which it is the fact
not of the language of extra-individual, but the speech, subjective by
its nature.
