Vladimir rostislavovich [ 6(18).1.1877, Moscow,
-28.5.1965, Leningrad ], Russian Soviet actor and director, national
art. USSR (1947). Creative activity of beginnings into
1898 in the theaters of province, into 1904-05 actor of the theater V.
f. komissarzhevskoy (Petersburg), then the Moscow theater Of korsha.
Roles: Fedor karamazov ("brothers Karamazovy" according
to Dostoyevsky), Fedya Protasov ("living corpse" Tolstoy) et al.
In 1913 it began work in the cinema. Obtained reputation
as director the scenario of the film screenings: according to
Tolstoy - "Anna Karenin" and "kreytserova sonata" (both into 1914),
"war and peace" (1915, contemporary. with 4. By a.
protazanov), according to Turgenev - "nobiliary nest" and "the day
before", according to the Maminu- Siberian - "privalovskiye million"
(everything into 1915). After the October Revolution he was
organizer and leader 1st Goskinoshkoly (1919, now THE VGIK).
The films were placed: "ninety six" (1919), "sickle and
hammer" (1921), "cross and Mauser" (1925), ";Poet tsar" (1927), "caste
Kalinovskiy" (1928). In the sound motion picture the actor
appeared high performer craftsmanship, art of reincarnation.
Best roles: old worker Babchenko ("counter", 1932)
Porfirius golovlev ("Iudushka Of golovlev", 1934, on Saltykov-Schedrin
novel "gentlemen Golovlevy"). It is rewarded with 3 orders, and
