the rocks, a quantity of free or sorbirovannykh gases
(main obr. methane), which is
contained in the unit of mass or volume of the rocks under the natural
conditions. G. is measured m3/t or m3/m3. Carbon layers are gas-bearing. For example, with the
atm pressure 1 sby mof 3 coals is capable to sorb 7-8 sm3 methanes or to 18 smof 3 carbon
dioxide. With an increase in the pressure in the fiery seams the
quantity of gases, which can be by them sorbirovano, rises. G.
depends on the influence mn. of the factors, most important of which
are: geol. of the condition for the development of region, the
scales of gas formation with the metamorphism of the rocks, the
permeability to gas of the containing coal beds deposits, gazoyemkost'
mineral and enclosing rocks. Besides methane, the coal beds can
also contain carbon dioxide; from the separate carbon is
stratified it is separated hydrogen sulfide or sulfur dioxide, etc.
