V. Is. achieved troops of rights, wing of Leningrad front
(marshal sov. union L. A. govorov) in interaction with the
Baltic fleet (adm. v. f. tributs) and Ladozhskoy voyen. by flotilla
(koptr- adm v. S. cherokov) in the period of 10-20 June.
War shooting in v. Is. occurred in the almost inaccessible
wooded-swampy- lake locality of Karelian isthmus. Dolgovrem. the
deeply eshelonirovannaya defense of the Karelian fortified area was
saturated by ferroconcrete and wood and earthen construction, powerful
barrages and obstacles. Concept v. Is. provided for inflicting a
main impact in the direction Of beloostrov, Vyborg. At the
beginning v. Is. the general relationship in the forces was in favor
of Sov. troops - on the infantry 2 times, on the artillery and the

operation on 9 June for 10 h it
occurred the preliminary destruction of important it will defend,
construction by the fire of 240 instruments of the caliber of 122-406 mm and by air strikes. On
10 June after powerful art. and avn. preparation infantry and tanks
attacked enemy positions. In the course of 4- day military force
21-1 and the part of the forces of the 23rd of armies they broke
through the first defense zone of enemy; the attempt to break
through on the move the second strip in Kiven-napy region success did
not enjoy. Then the front commander accomplished a skillful
maneuver and transferred osn of the effort of troops into the region
of seaside highway. In spite of impassable road, the new
direction it was secretly regrouped to ON art. of battalions, as a
result of which the density in the breakthrough area reached 200
instruments and mortars on 1 km. On 14 June Sov. troops began the assault of the second most
powerful defense zone. The massirovannyy air strike on the
important strong point Of kutersel'kya and successful turning maneuver
1st gvard. of tank brigade decided beforehand the success of the
breakthrough of the second strip to the outcome on 15 June. On
17 June Sov. troops approached the third defense zone of the enemy,
who attempted to stop here the offensive of Sov. troops. Sov.
command by commitment to battle of reserves and by the matched actions
of ground forces, fleet and aviation tore away the intention of enemy.
The third strip was broken through, and on 20 June Sov. troops
by assault mastered Vyborg. In the course of v. Is. into voyen.
of history was for the first time in a short time broken through the
contemporary fortified area with an average rate of the advance of
10-12 km in a 24 hour period.
Enemy was forced to move on vyborgskse direction SV. 5
divisions, having seriously weakened the group of its troops before
the Karelian Front, which created conditions for conducting the Svirsko- Petrozavodsk operation 1944.
