Italian. galeazza - large galera), gal'es, voyen. the ship,

masts with the slanting sails). In the arsenal g. there was to
70 instruments of the different calibers, established in the nose

riveted to the foot supports. Entire crew consisted of 800-1200
man. For the first time g. were used by Venetian fleet in the
marine battle with the Turks with Lepanto in 1571. In Russia g. they were not
constructed.
