(Halevi) Abu-whether- Khasan Iyekhuda Ben shemuel' rabbi (ok. 1075, Toledo, 1141, Egypt), Jewish poet and philosopher. Verses it wrote on Hebrew and partly on the Arabian, yaz., philosophical compositions - on the Arabian, yaz. much travelled, it was known and as doctor. With 1109 it lived in Kordove. It died on the way into Palestine.

The poetic heritage g. the secular and religious verses, assembled into the sofa, compose. Major, bacchic zhiznelyubivost' mn. it is verse about the friendship, loves, fault, feasts it contrasts in g. from elegich. by grief in the verses, dedicated to burdens and sufferings of people. For the first time into yevr. of poetry g. it came out as poet- seascapist. The virtuoso master of form, it used different meters and strofich. by forms, garnished verses by paraphrases from the Old Testament, were introduced Arabian, and Spanish line and phrase. As philosopher g. in the "book of proof and reason into the protection of the humble faith" (in the transfer into Hebrew - the "book of khazara") was carried out the antinomy of science as the demonstrations of reason and faith as the demonstrations of intuition. Hence, at g., the system of proofs, essential for the science, cannot be essential for the faith. Creation g. exerted influence on yevr. literature and philosophy. Means g. became legendary, one of the legends about it was processed G. Heine.
