mel'nitskeyeo Edge, -8.10.1874, Prague), Czech Writer. Kind. in the cross. to family. Finished fnlos. the department of
Prague university. First verses G. (1854) - the novel
-tic. of the ballads, based on the national popular beliefs. In
the sb -kax it is verse "evening songs" (1858), many of which are
assumed on the music by the composers B. smetanoy and By k. Bendl, and
"in nature" (1872-74) become famous love, garmonnch. the beauty of
nature, service to man and to society. The lives of Czech
village are dedicated by prod.. 1870- X the yr.: ballad
sb- kA the "fairy tales of our village" (1874), narrative and stories
("in the estate and in the cabin", 1871 and, etc.). Together
with 4. nerudoy g. he was the founder of the Alma. "May",
zhurn. "kvety", etc., which united the foremost circles of
Czech writers.
