V. invented visual grafich. the method of processing the results of measuring the crystals with the aid of stereografich. of the grid, which received its name. The new method of the conclusion of all symmetry groups of crystals gave. V. belong also the work in field of an increase in the crystals, study of liquid crystals and crystalloptics. For the first time in Russia experiments on X-ray structural studies of crystals were placed. In 1913 opened the law of X-ray interference, reflected by atomic crystal planes, and independent of u. G. Bragg derived osn the formula of the X-ray diffraction analysis (see Bragg - Vul"fa condition).
